Implant and Restorative Dentistry — Naperville and Woodridge

Restorative and implant dentistry (dental implants) at our Woodridge practice, near Naperville, is part of our comprehensive array of general dentistry services. Our dentist, Dr. Tom Machnowski, emphasizes periodontal maintenance and regular exams and cleanings to maintain your dental health.

Dental Implants

Dental implants are today’s treatment of choice for missing teeth. We provide implant dentistry in Woodridge, near Naperville, to give patients a natural-looking, uniform smile.

As the name suggests, dental implants are securely, strongly and permanently implanted into your jaw using a titanium post. Dr. Tom Machnowski’s office works closely with an oral surgeon who places this post. Once your bone and gums have been allowed to grow around this anchor, it is ready to be topped with a custom-crafted, artificial tooth. Dr. Machnowski then places your implant crown atop the post, giving you an artificial tooth that looks, feels, and functions just like a real one! Your friends and family will not be able to distinguish your dental implant from your other teeth, and you will quickly forget you ever had a gap in your smile.

It is best to choose an experienced cosmetic dentist like Dr. Machnowski to craft and place your implant crowns. Sculpting an implant crown with the look, shape, and length of your lost tooth takes artistry and experience. The goal is to give you an implant that will blend in with your other teeth and provide optimal function, and this goal cannot be reached with a “one size fits all” dental implant.

Implant dentistry gives patients a permanent, hassle-free solution to one or more missing teeth. However, you must have sufficient bone mass and healthy gums to support one or more dental implants. If you are missing one or more teeth, consult with Dr. Machnowski right away. He will evaluate your bone and gums, and advise you on whether implant dentistry is right for you. Mini Dental Implants

This system was designed to make wearing dentures more comfortable. Mini implants are tiny titanium screws that hold a denture in place. Because of the excellent fit they afford the denture, patients with these implants can eat and talk more easily and without fear of slippage. The procedure to place the implants is completed in one appointment using the patient's original denture and is so comfortable that our patients find they can eat a light meal shortly after the procedure. Contact us today to learn more or schedule a complimentary evaluation.

Comprehensive Restorative Dentistry

All of our procedures are designed to help give you the bright, healthy smile that you've dreamed of and the confidence that comes along with it. We will work with you to develop a personalized, comprehensive, restorative dentistry plan to help you reach your goals.

Restorative dentistry is defined as any procedures used to restore the appearance and health of teeth that have been damaged, decayed, or lost. Restorative dentistry includes fillings, crowns (usually in conjunction with a root canal), bridges, dental implants, and dentures. A full restoration of your smile may incorporate several of these techniques. We offer a comprehensive array of restorative dentistry procedures at our Woodridge practice, near Naperville. Tooth-Colored Composite Fillings

The unsightly silver amalgam fillings of the past have now been replaced with tooth-colored, mercury-free fillings. These new composite fillings, made of ceramic, porcelain, or resin, are bonded to your teeth as usual, but invisibly blend in with your teeth. We use tooth-colored fillings exclusively at our practice. We can also replace your old silver fillings with composite ones if you desire a better cosmetic result or have old fillings that are failing.

Periodontal Maintenance

Though good daily hygiene - twice-daily brushings and regular flossing - is important, regular dental examinations and cleanings are also necessary to maintain healthy teeth and gums. Dr. Machnowski can help keep your teeth and gums strong and disease-free, and diagnose problems like gingivitis early, before they cause real problems.

Keeping up with dental examinations is the key to avoiding the need for extensive restorative dentistry in the future. At our practice in Woodridge, also serving Naperville, we provide periodontal maintenance and dental exams, so you can enjoy a lifetime of healthy and beautiful teeth and gums. Contact us today to schedule an appointment.

Root Canal Therapy

The most commonly performed endodontic procedure (that is, a procedure designed to save teeth which have suffered damage) is a root canal. A root canal saves a tooth by removing from it diseased or injured dental pulp. Each tooth contains this pulp, which is comprised of a long strand of nutrients and nerves that extends down to the tooth’s root. Damaged pulp can cause a tooth to fall out or die, so during a root canal, a hole is drilled in the tooth’s crown, the injured pulp is removed or reshaped, and the tooth is capped. Root canals are relatively easy procedures that provide worthwhile results. To learn more about endodontics, please contact our practice today.
